I was so incredibly excited to wear one of Alicia Janesko's caftans to attend last Friday night's KCFW shows, which included her own new collection that rock the runway (you can see my review of her show here). It was both fashion forward and extremely comfortable! Perfect for wearing over the course of a long evening complete with girl time spent at the new Halls getting makeovers and catching up over wine at their H Bar, then walking across the bridge to the Union Station for a full evening of fashion friends and 9 shows.
Alicia makes caftans for all kinds of occasions, and my favorite, ones that fit multiple occasions with simple styling tricks. If you don't own one, or have never tried a caftan on, you should get in touch with her immediately, you won't be sorry!
I styled this navy caftan with gold flecks with simple gold jewelry - my new gold pendant necklace (thanks for the help!), geo-metric sparkly earrings c/o Blair's, skinny cuff c/o Janesko (Alicia's sister; talented family...) and an old clutch that always comes in hand (one of those pieces I'm so glad survives each closet clean out!). What you can't see are my shoes; I wore pointy-toed sparkly flats and boy was I happy about that!
This outfit gave off a glamorous feel (the Halls Chanel makeover helped, too), flats and all, but was completely comfortable! I am already plotting my next reason to wear a caftan (which I quickly thought of several...). Here are a few more photos of the look and some quick snaps of the night...
As mentioned above, before the event, we were invited by Halls to get our makeup done and enjoy the new H Bar (that's located right inside the department store near the make up, conveniently!) I was joined by
Andrea,
Erin and
Caitlin - which was fun to chat about blogging and beyond before heading to the shows.
Of course, there were a few of us at the show wearing our Alicia Janesko one of a kind pieces... Katie of KC Magazine, Jennifer Janesko (her sister) and myself (also her mom and two friends who aren't pictured).
Post-show snap shot with Alicia Janesko, wearing her caftan (both of us!).
Also in attendance... 6 designers from Project Runway! After the show, my friend,
Erin and I chatted a bit with
Michael Drummond, from season 8. He told us, in preparation for his show the next day, that "it was going to get weird." Stay tuned for my favorite looks from KCFW Project Runway soon!
What a fun night!
