I've never been a huge thrift or consignment shopper, but lately I've gotten interested in it for children's needs, specifically. Having two littles of my own, I've seen firsthand how QUICKLY they outgrow clothing (sometimes not getting to all the clothes at that size at all), lose interest in toys and receive new items (gifts, hand-me-downs, etc). I just can't believe it as we're packing away some of the old things (almost monthly), and how new they still seem.
So, when I started learning about local consignment sales, like Just Between Friend's in Lee's Summit and Overland Park (coming up!), I got really into this idea of shopping gently-used items for a fraction of the cost of brand new things. Plus, instead of hitting up different thrift shops, theses events are 10 times as big (my estimation), packed with some of the best stuff (like name-brand clothing, popular toys, major gear, etc.) that allow you to get a lot of shopping done at once. I'm really excited to check out this year's JBF event in Overland Park, and am even going to try to put on my Holiday shopping hat and get a head start...
Here are the details on the two upcoming Kansas City-area events, so you can get one of them (or both!) on your calendar:
The Pavilion at John Knox Village
Open to the Public from August 22-24
Overland Park International Trade Center
