This past weekend was
Kansas City Fashion Week at the beautiful Union Station on a particularly beautiful day! I hit up the Saturday afternoon portion of the show-packed weekend and walked away with two favorites that could not be any different. The first had me ready to escape to a tropical island and the next ready for Fall. Both collections grabbed my attention for the craftsmanship, unique designs and styles and beautiful styling.
L.O.D. Designs was the collection that exuded sunshine and ocean breezes. The bright yellow mixed with palm print brought me to that summer happy place (you know, the one in the sun, on a sandy beach, a good book in hand and no where to be with the ocean as your backdrop... that one). But this wasn't just any island wear collection, these pieces were structured where needed and flowy when not, creating pieces you could wear in-land (like, oh, say, Kansas City?!). Oh, and I loved the feather and gold styling throughout, so much so I am contemplating a DIY project for a similar bracelet like the one below...
Spring not even here, and I was getting giddy for Fall watching the collection by Andrea Marie Long Designs. Her use of plaid (especially mixing plaids) were the perfect build from 2013's plaid comeback. I really felt like this show could have been called Sherlock Holmes Chic or something. Below are just a few of my favorite pieces she sent down the runway... the cape, gold accents, pops of fur, plaid on plaid. It was good, really good:
Prior to the show, some of my fellow blogger friends and I got to put our media pass to good use and go backstage for a preview. The event was hosted by
Ulta, which sent us home with an awesome swag bag packed to the brim with goodies. I can't wait to try and dish on my favorites!
What a great event! Thanks KCFW & Ulta for making it the best yet.
